The Journey and Philosophy Rooted in Healing: research and style

Afzal's creative spark ignited in childhood, inspired by his aunt's paintings. What began as simple sketches eventually transformed into a profound form of art therapy. Through the creative process, Afzal found the tools to heal a broken heart, overcome mental struggles, and channel his vulnerabilities into messages of light and resilience.

His art is not a mere aesthetic exercise, but a journey of self awareness and an invitation to emotional and spiritual rebirth, which the artist shares with the audience to serve as a source of collective inspiration.

1. Asemic Writing Paintings and Connection with Nature

Afzal shares a profound connection with his surroundings. He finds meaning and stories in the lines etched on old walls, the shapes of drifting clouds, and the patterns on stones. This silent dialogue translates onto the canvas through asemic writing (a form of abstract writing beyond words), where meaning emerges past literal language, bridging the visible and the invisible. In the artworks of this cycle (such as A Renewal or Two Figures), fantastic creatures co-exist in harmony, brought to life by white lines and sparks of neon green energy.

2. Portraits Abstraction

In my portraits, I give voice to complex human emotions: love, concern for nature, and suffering. Human figures carrying multiple faces or featuring lips sealed by a zipper reflect the tension between repression and inner vitality. Powerful pieces like Windows of Hope or Anchored Man demonstrate how pain, when connected to one's core, can be transformed into awakening, love, and hope.

3. The Evolution vs Healing: Abstractions

This section encapsulates the heart of my abstract expressionist art. Utilizing a rich mixed media technique (acrylics, oil pastels, as well as sand, dust, and ashes),I represent the struggles of a turbulent mind. The color yellow frequently emerges as a symbol of willpower and a fight to overcome the darkness (Divine Ways, Bloom of Positivity), transforming chaotic energy into an unstoppable rush of positivity and inner transformation.

4. My Sculptures

In my sculptures, Afzal explores the intersection of nature, architecture, and symbolism, a dialogue between the organic and the man-made. Working primarily with raw and found materials such as stone, wood, brick, cardboard, and wire I embrace the natural forms and cracks inherent to the mediums. My sculptural towers (like Tower of Giving or Observer Tower) become three dimensional metaphors for the complexity, fragility, and ultimate resilience of the human experience.
